As it is my birthday today (no, no - you are too kind!), I have been given a copy of the Mercury Award-winning CD by The XX. I haven't tackled some music out of my comfort zone (indie, Americana) for a while now. I shall report back later with initial thoughts....
1st listen: Probably not the ideal music to travel to or from work by. The songs are dreamy, narcotic, woozy and beautifully melodic. Electro drumbeats mixed with echo/reverb guitars. It feels like music whose habitat is the night. I'll give it more listens in other places/times and see what that does...
